GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2022
The German Design Awards are the premium prize of the German Design Council. It is one of the most prestigious awards on the design scene across all industries. Since 2012, the German Design Awards have been identifying significant design trends, presenting them to a wide audience and honouring them.
In its tenth anniversary year, special attention is paid to the many ways in which designers find answers to increasingly complex problems. The German Design Awards highlight these innovative solutions and pay tribute to the people who support them.
Since their debut in 2012, the German Design Awards have grown considerably, from approx. 1,500 entries in their first year to some 4,500 entries in each of the last few years. As such, the enormous international impact of the German Design Awards is underlined by the number of participants from other countries. Most recently, the proportion of international entries was 50%. In total, participants from 60 countries have taken part in the awards.
The German Design Awards set the highest standards in terms of selecting their winners: in a unique nomination process, companies whose products and communication design services exhibit design excellence are invited to participate. In addition, companies have the opportunity to submit projects directly and on their own initiative; these will be reviewed by the German Design Council to verify whether they meet the required participation criteria.
